*Needs members

BOOKKEEPING - In charge of UUSMC banking; makes deposits of all funds, writes checks, sends appropriate documents to government. Assists in annual audit of records. Uses computer database to keep track of all records, write checks. Reports to the Board of Trustees.

CARING COMMUNITY *- Chair works with the minister. Calls and sends cards when anyone in membership is ill, or has death in family. Helps arrange meals and other forms of support as appropriate. 

CAPITAL FUND RAISING - Chair works with Finance Committee. Charged with campaign for funds for land and new facility.

DENOMINATIONAL AFFAIRS - Keeps track of Joseph Priestley District (JPD) and Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) meetings, correspondence, and notices. Attends meetings of JPD. Can be very involved or only to the degree time permits.

FACILITIES* - Arranges for Sunday morning and special event set up of chairs, tables, hymnals, etc. A couple of people or a family usually take on one Sunday a month.

HOSPITALITY/COFFEE HOUR* - Arranges coffee and refreshments following Sunday service. Makes sure people sign up and that supplies are on hand.

FINANCE* - Responsible for planning the annual budget and its distribution, with the bookkeeper and Investment sub-committee. Organizes annual Canvass events, and special fund raising.

MEMBERSHIP* - Keeps track of membership. Sends notes to visitors and new members, arranges Newcomer gatherings, directory, and Membership Fair.

GREETERS* - Arranges two greeters for Sunday morning, calls visitors who sign the guest book, and those names to Membership Chair and minister.

MINISTRY LIAISON - Facilitates communication and education about ministry with minister, congregation, and Board.

MUSIC* - Works with Director of Music for Sunday Services music.

NEWSLETTER EDITOR* - Creates monthly newsletter, The Grist, with information submitted by membership; folds, labels, stamps and posts.

NOMINATIONS - Finds and submits nominees for Board of Trustees to the Annual Meeting in May.

ORDER OF SERVICE - Creates the weekly Sunday Service Order of Service with information supplied by minister and membership.

PUBLICITY* - Gets articles, ads, press releases to the local media.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION-CHILDREN* - Organizes with Director of Religious Education, teacher recruitment and training. Keeps track of and organizes child care needs. Works to enhance program, find new projects and curricula.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION -YOUTH* - Arranges programming for our Youth I & II groups. Advises Coming of Age program.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION - ADULT* - Works with minister to provide adult programs dealing with a wide variety of subjects and concerns.

SOCIAL CONCERNS* - Works to keep congregation informed and involved about various issues of social justice. Helps arrange social action programming.

SOCIAL EVENTS* - Arranges special social events like potluck suppers, Passover Seder, etc.

SUNDAY SERVICES* - Works with minister and staff to create Sunday morning services, particularly the monthly Lay Led service.

TELEPHONE TREE* - Contacts membership for emergency notifications, such as snow closing.

WELCOMING CONGREGATION* - New program to educate the congregation about gay and lesbian issues and concerns.

Get involved by contacting the Board President or Rev. Dean. We all have learned by doing, so don't be reluctant to join any committee of interest.
