Rev. Christe Lunsford, Minister
My office hours: Monday & Tuesday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Other times available by appointment
Our minister, the Rev. Christe Lunsford, earned their Master of Divinity from Meadville Lombard Theological School and is credentialed by the Association for UU Music Ministries. They also hold a Master of Fine Arts in Theatrical Production and Design from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Louisville. Ordained in 2019, they have served congregations in Louisville, Kentucky; Rockford, Illinois; Gainesville, Florida; and Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a focus on developmental and transitional ministry.
Grounded in a deep and abiding belief in collective liberation, Rev. Christe’s ministry centers anti-racism and anti-oppression, seeking to deepen both individual and congregational understanding of the role our liberal religious faith can play in the wider community. They believe the most effective way to change the world is to live authentically, transparently, and with radical love and acceptance.
As a non-binary, trans-masculine person, Rev. Christe is aware of the privilege they hold in appearing to others as white and male, while also living as a marginalized person in today’s society. They intentionally lift up voices from the margins in all areas of congregational life, including worship, music, social justice, and religious exploration. They welcome conversations with individuals discerning a call to ministry, offering opportunities for reflection and guidance drawn from their own personal experience, and by connecting those individuals with colleagues and resources within the wider Unitarian Universalist community.
Rev. Christe serves the wider Unitarian Universalist community as a member of the UU Ministers Association (UUMA), co-lead of the UUMA Trans/Non-Binary Chapter, and as a UUA Trained Advocate for Congregational Life Concerns. They also serve on the UUA Appointments Committee and have previously served on the UUA Presidential Campaign Core Team for Rev. Sofía Betancourt, the Steering Committee for Transgender Religious Professionals UUs Together (TRUUsT), and the Board of Trustees for the Association for UU Music Ministries (AUUMM).
Rev. Christe and their partner, Dianna, adore their two adult children, Hannah and Jack, and their beloved Australian Shepherd, Blue.
