August 6: Big Magic: the Intersection of Art, Improvisation and Spirituality

Join us for worship at 10:30 a. m. as Dr. Karen Rege shares the story of her journey to find Big Magic through musical improvisation with her message, “Big Magic: the Intersection of Art, Improvisation and Spirituality.”

Improvisation in music, art or life is both at once mindful and reckless abandon. We all improvise daily in many ways, but the most fulfillment comes to us in those moments of Big Magic, when having cultivated a creative life, we become like a river that the Great Creator pours through us.

The music for the day will be performed by FishCastle Music, featuring Cyril Caster and Catherine Braik Selin.

This Sunday we will be “painting” our Asian Pears with clay to protect them from insects. This is a non-chemical, inexpensive way to help protect the fruit as it is ripening on the trees. So old clothes are recommended as the clay might splatter a bit.
