Leading a More Compassionate Life

Join us for worship this Sunday, October 18th at 10:30 am

We welcome Sam Gugino back to our pulpit as we continue our monthly theme of Compassion with his sermon, “Leading a More Compassionate Life.” Sam will be joined by the UUSMC Choir under the direction of Kristen Tosh-Morelli. Our Religious Education children are invited to begin their day in the sanctuary and will be excused to their classes after the story for all ages.

Come early! Our Adult Religious Education group meets every Sunday before service in the MacArtor Library at 9:15 am. This week we will viewing a presentation by author and scholar Karen Armstrong as she accepts her 2008 TED Prize. She believes the Abrahamic religions — Islam, Judaism, Christianity — have been diverted from the moral purpose they share to foster compassion. But Armstrong has seen a yearning to change this fact. People want to be religious, she says; we should act to help make religion a force for harmony. She asks the TED community to help her build a Charter for Compassion — to help restore the Golden Rule as the central global religious doctrine.

It’s going to be another great day at Mill Creek!
