Public Apology and Correction - Unitarian Universalist Society of Mill Creek

Dear Members and Friends of our Congregation,

In Sunday’s sermon, January 18, 2026, I unfortunately misnamed Renee Good, referring to her as “Sarah Good.” I deeply regret this error and want to correct it with care and respect.

Renee Nicole Good was the 37-year-old woman who was fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during an incident in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. She was a wife, mother, writer, poet, and neighbor whose life and loss have profoundly affected many individuals, families, and communities.

Names matter. They carry the dignity and identity of a person — especially when we speak about someone whose life ended in tragedy and whose memory is held dearly by those who loved her. Thank you to those who graciously pointed out my mistake.

To the memory of Renee Good, and to all who mourn her loss: I wholeheartedly apologize for misnaming her and for the harm that this mistake may have caused.
