In seeking and sometimes demanding certain behaviors from others, we can lose sight of our own failure to live up to our own standards. As we seek to “Widen the Circle,” how do our expectations and self-awareness support or impede our progress toward building an inclusive beloved community?

Rev. Peter Friedrichs was ordained to UU ministry in 2006 and called to serve the Unitarian Universalist Church of Delaware County in Media, PA that same year. He recently announced his plan to retire from congregational ministry in June, after 16 years of faithful and rewarding service to that congregation. He is a mentor to UU colleagues in Preliminary Fellowship and is developing a leadership coaching practice. His first novel, And the Stars Kept Watch, was published in May, 2021.
