This Sunday in Religious Exploration

Religious Exploration for Children and Youth

Following the Story for All Ages in worship, Children and Youth will report to their classrooms for an hour of learning, friendship and fun!

Chris will lead the Chalice Children in a session entitled “Everyone is Afraid of Something.” Parents are reminded to send their children to class with a jacket so they may enjoy a few minutes outside to observe the changes in their “adopted tree!”

Heather and Stephanie will continue guiding the Roots and Shoots Friends as they work on their class campaign to benefit Jakes Diapers.

During the Religious Education hour, the OWL and YRUU Youth will meet in the library with our own Manisha Antani for some real talk about gender identity and expression.

The O.W.L. Group will meet from Noon-1:30 in Classroom #4 for a workshop on gender identity and sexual orientation.

Adult Religious Exploration

Join us as we explore what it means to be a UU in our Adult RE series, “Faith Like a River.” Come explore the course of UU history—people, ideas, and movements that shape our faith heritage.  Sunday mornings in the MacArtor Library, 9:15–10:15 am, September 30 through November 11. No registration necessary. Drop-ins are most welcome – coffee provided!

This Sunday in Adult Religious Exploration: Karen Rege leads this session introducing 19th-century religious movements such as Transcendentalism and Utopianism. The class will examine how these movements shaped our faith, and identify strains of idealism in Unitarian Universalism today. Let’s talk about it.

Speaking of Adult Religious Exploration….

Join us for our Adult RE Team Meeting!  We’ll be locking in our offerings for Winter/Spring and hearing your ideas and suggestions for new class offerings. Hope to see you there on Sunday, November 11th, 12 noon to 1 pm in the MacArtor Library.

November 30 Family Fun Night – 6:30 – 8:00 (Every Fourth Friday)

Mark your calendars!!! The Roots and Shoots Friends (together with the RE-Imagineers) are hosting an evening of fun and awareness and you are invited! We will be showing the movie, “The Lorax,” and raising awareness and funds for “Jake’s Diapers.”  Jake’s Diapers, Inc. solves diaper need for infants, elderly and those with special needs. This is essential for clean, healthy and active lives and creates a sense of dignity. When we alleviate the ongoing financial burden of diaper costs, we empower recipients to pursue a higher quality of life.  Funds raised will benefit infants and elders of Vieques Island, a municipality of Puerto Rico.

Since 2013, Jake’s Diapers has provided diaper solutions for people of all ages in over 20 countries. For more info, check out jakesdiapers.org
