Universalism: Past, Present and Powerful

Join us for worship this Sunday, August 23rd at 10:30 am

This week we welcome our guest speaker, Rev. Kalen Fristad, who offers his message, “Universalism: Past, Present and Powerful” which will focus on the history and significance of the teaching of Universalism. Also joining us will be local musician Bill Marconi, accompanied by Jenna Knaster.

Our Religious Education students will join us in the sanctuary for the beginning of our worship service and will adjourn to the RE wing after the Story For All Ages.

Our Adult Religious Education group meets every Sunday before service in the MacArtor Library at 9:15 am. This week we will be viewing a 2013 Ted Talk by Michelle Alexander summarizing the thesis of her book, The New Jim Crow, subtitled “Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness”. This ground breaking book was published in 2010 and has ignited a broad movement to reform the criminal justice system. This book has implications which go beyond criminal justice, examining the role of racism in the institutional fabric of our society.
