We are so proud of our wonderful RE volunteers! Their expertise, energy and enthusiasm are the lifeblood of our programs. Today, we highlight volunteer Cathy Blanchet. She took the time to let us get to know her a little better. Here’s what she had to share:
Where are you from?
I grew up in Bernardsville, New Jersey (northeastern Jersey about 30 miles west of NYC). I went to UD and have been here in Delaware ever since.
What class/classes do you teach at Mill Creek?
I have helped out with the Chalice Children as needed for the past few months.
What brings you to Mill Creek?
I was searching for a faith community that was welcoming and offers a service with positive energy, opportunity for personal growth and new friendships. I hit the jackpot at Mill Creek!
What do you love most about Religious Exploration at Mill Creek?
Interacting with the kids!
Anything interesting you’d like us to know about you?
In my first career I worked in managerial roles at a variety of food establishments, worked catering gigs and for a local baker. Food is a hands on creative outlet and a favorite way to connect with others. Many of my volunteer activities have revolved around food including overseeing the food service at Wilmington Flower Market, a hot lunch program and doing cooking classes at my daughter’s schools, and running the swim team snack bar.
Thank you for EVERYTHING you do, Cathy! You are appreciated!!!
