** Concert at Mill Creek this Friday Night
————————————————————
Brandywine Friends of Old Time Music (BFOTM) brings their concert series back to Mill Creek featuring two shows this fall, and two more in the spring.
The first concert in the series features South Carolina Broadcasters. Masters of primitive bluegrass, the South Carolina Broadcasters are deeply rooted in the Appalachian musical tradition. Their unadorned instruments and three voices sing the songs of their homeland as only those who know and feel it can. The band features David Sheppard (guitar, vocals), Ivy Sheppard (fiddle, banjo, vocals), and Tom Mindte (mandolin, vocals). Their razor-sharp harmonies, exceptional multi-instrumentation, and fabulous song selection will have listeners riveted to their seats.
Friday, October 6th – 8:00 pm
Tickets sold at the door: General Public, $25; Seniors, $20; Students with ID: $15; Ages 17 & Under, FREE.
Take a listen to the band HERE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUWeKbOlHwg)
Next in the Concert Series: Friday, November 17th @ 8:00 pm
BFOTM is looking forward to hosting
Uncle Henry’s Favorites, a four-member band from Charlottesville, Virginia. More info will be shared about this performance but in the meantime – mark your calendar!

** Prospective Member Class this Sunday
————————————————————
Come learn about Unitarian Universalism, about Mill Creek, and what it means to be a member here. If you’re interested in joining the church, you’re welcome to attend this class — but you can also attend if you just want to learn a little more. We’ll meet with Rev. Christian and lay leaders in the MacArtor Library this Sunday, October 8th after the potluck lunch for about an hour to share, learn, and consider membership.
This class will prepare anyone who would like to officially join the church by participating in our New Member Ceremony on Sunday, October 22nd.
Contact Rev. Christian with any questions, minister@uusmc.org (mailto:minister@uusmc.org) .
Sunday, October 8th – 12 noon – MacArtor Library

** Share Our Bounty – Collection Begins this Sunday
————————————————————
This Sunday we begin our fall food drive: Share Our Bounty. We are collecting non-perishable food items now through Sunday, November 12. We will be supporting the Food Bank of Delaware and Kennett Area Community Service Food Cupboard (in PA) with our donations.
In past years we’ve assembled individual family-sized food boxes designed to provide a full Thanksgiving meal. After consulting with these two organizations, we’ve decided to collect the food items most needed by each one (like hot & cold cereals, spaghetti/tomato sauce, peanut butter, etc.), plus Thanksgiving standards (such as canned cranberry sauce, instant mashed potatoes, canned/jarred gravy, etc.).
Look for the collection bin in the gathering space where you can pick up a printed flyer containing a list of acceptable food items. OR – click the button below. See or contact Becky Varlas (mailto:rebeccavarlas@gmail.com?subject=share%20our%20bounty) with any questions about this project.
Thank you for your support!

** **All Points Bulletin: Missing Key**
————————————————————
We keep a ‘key’ above each set of double entrance doors (it is a small allen wrench-style key on a red coiled keychain). This ‘key’ is used to unlock/lock the doors from the inside. There are two of them.
One of these keys is missing – if you have it, please return as soon as possible. If you know where it is or where it was left, please contact the church office (mailto:administrator@uusmc.org?subject=missing%20key) . Thank you.
** Unity Youth at Mill Creek

** Current Share Our Plate Recipient
————————————————————
We regularly donate a portion of our undesignated plate collection to a local charity or non-profit organization. For the months of September and October we are supporting:
Sean’s House
Located at 136 W. Main Street in Newark, Sean’s House is a free resource for young adults ages 14-24. It is a home-like space designed to help members of our community improve their health and wellbeing and connect with their peers in a safe and confidential environment. Support is available 24/7 for young adults to talk about mental health or substance use challenges with other young adult Peer Specialists who have lived experience with similar challenges. The goal of these services is to improve wellness, empower members of the community, and connect young adults to resources and communities of support that meet their specific needs, with the hope of reducing the rate of youth suicide by providing a place for young adults to feel safe, welcomed, and supported.
Our donations will support the Sean’s House Peer24 Program, a training program designed to provide the skills necessary to offer the high level of support offered to visitors.
We know that in order to fight darkness, we need a team of light. A team full of family, friends, and mental health specialists with a common goal to support those who are currently fighting their own darkness.

Offered as part of Peace Week Delaware (https://www.peaceweekdelaware.org/) , Depolarizing Within is a 3-hour in-person workshop designed to foster skills to help you lessen the effects of polarization when you encounter them in your political conversations. ‘Polarization’ refers to how we regard and talk about large groups of ordinary people on the other side of the political aisle.
