** Church Social Event this Saturday
————————————————————

Everyone is welcome to join us this Saturday, June 13 at 6:30 pm for our annual Ice Cream Social!

We’ll have lots of yummy treats, volleyball, corn hole, and other low‑skill, fun-filled yard games. Come enjoy a sweet summer evening with friends.

We are looking for 2 volunteers to help with set-up at 6pm and/or clean-up at 7:45. Please contact Chris Reynolds here (mailto:reynoldschristine0@gmail.com) .

** Have you downloaded the Church Center App?
————————————————————

Church Center is an easy app that helps you to stay connected with your Mill Creek community. Our church center app is secure and controlled, and accessed by invitation only. Invitations were emailed several months ago to members. If you can’t locate that email, contact the church office for a resend (administrator@uusmc.org (mailto:administrator@uusmc.org) ).

Once you download the app, select UUSMC as your congregation, and sign in, you can access the church directory and calendar. Only you can control what information is shared in the directory.

** Mill Creek at Newark Nite
————————————————————
Newark Nite returned after an 8-year hiatus as a revived, free downtown street festival on Friday, June 5th. The event took place from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Main Street, and featured live performers, local food vendors, arts and crafts, and family-friendly games. Several local businesses and organizations had their tents and tables lined up along the street. One such organization was your very own Unitarian Universalist Society of Mill Creek – and was the only UU church present.

Our booth was manned by Rev. Christe Lunsford and a few church members who reported a steady stream of interested passers-by.

** Keyless Entry Code Changing Soon
————————————————————
The keyless entry code at the side entrance of the building will be changing soon; we will provide more information in a future weekly email. Stay tuned!

** Are you OWL trained?
————————————————————

Rev. Christe is assembling a list of church members who are trained in Our Whole Lives (OWL). Please click HERE (mailto:revchriste@gmail.com) to let Christe know what level you are trained in and what your level of interest is.

** In the market for a new A/C unit? Call us before you buy!
————————————————————
We have a fundraising opportunity with a local HVAC contractor. If you’re in the market for a new unit or system, let us know (Rev. Christe (mailto:revchriste@gmail.com) or the church office (mailto:administrator@uusmc.org) ) and we will provide the information you need to obtain a quote; purchases of a new system from this company will result in a donation made to the church.

** Sunday Worship Service Information
June 14, 2026
10:30 am
————————————————————

Spirit in Practice is an invitation to explore what it means to live connected to that greater Love — not just on Sunday mornings, but in all of life. It helps each of us develop regular disciplines of the spirit, offering avenues for deepening spirituality and affirming growth as a journey we take together.

This Sunday’s service will be active and participatory: you’ll have the opportunity to explore a spiritual practice of your choosing in various locations in the building, then come together to reflect on the many ways we nurture our connections with the sacred in everyday life. Activities vary in mobility and range from yoga and walking meditation to stewarding our property, working with our children, creating art, and engaging in intellectual discussion.
* Please dress comfortably and appropriately for movement.
* If you have a yoga mat (one or more) and you are comfortable lending it to others for the service, please bring it (or them).

…NOTE…
Due to the special nature of this Sunday’s service, which includes breakout sessions throughout the building, it will not be offered via livestream.

Connect with Us In-Person
* Service begins at 10:30 am
* Children’s RE programming is available for ages 4 and up
* Child Care available (infant/toddler, ages birth to 3)

** FREE Jazz Concert at Mill Creek!

** Come to our Summer Solstice Celebration
————————————————————
What does it mean to call yourself Pagan?
* A Pagan follows a spiritual journey informed by natural life and seasons, embracing the lessons and healing that nature provides.
* A Pagan considers all of Life sacred, recognizing and appreciating the abundance of the natural world, honoring that which provides Life—whatever you may call it: the Source, Great Spirit, Goddess…
* A Pagan celebrates in ritual the seasonal changes, Equinox, Solstice [and more] as the Earthly transitions and as personal, spiritual transitions.

Join us on Monday evening, June 22, and experience our Summer Solstice Ritual.

** Join us in the meadow every Wednesday

Join the Land Stewards next Wednesday, June 17 (and every Wednesday, weather permitting) at 5:30pm and see what they’re doing to improve the biodiversity and natural habitat in the meadow areas.

** New Hospitality Center Opens at Family Promise Next Month
————————————————————

Mill Creek has had a long-term commitment to provide financial support and meals for families being housed by Family Promise of Northern New Castle County. The agency will soon double their capacity to house unsheltered families when their new facility opens this summer. The new facility on Milltown Road will welcome 8 additional families and includes a large dining room and commercial kitchen, allowing congregations and volunteer groups to support meals in new and more flexible ways.

At the Social Justice meeting on May 17, 2026, the group expressed support for UUSMC adopting the following approach:
* Donate a targeted Share‑the‑Plate collection each year to fund food purchases
* Have the Family Promise Kitchen Manager prepare menus and purchase food
* Enlist 2–4 church volunteers assisting 4–6 days per year with onsite meal prep, serving, and clean‑up
* Run an annual collection drive for items on the Family Promise Wish List

Expanded Volunteer Opportunities: With the new facility and scheduling system, individuals can now volunteer more often and at times that work for them. Opportunities are available Sunday–Thursday, 4–8 pm, and new software allows volunteers to sign up for any open day, time, or task. This expanded model strengthens our partnership with Family Promise and opens the door for more Mill Creek members to participate in meaningful, hands‑on service.

Tours of the new facility are taking place on Tuesday at 2 pm and Thursday at 10 am starting June 11 through July 23. You MUST pre-register using this link: New Facility Tours Link. Please contact Chris Reynolds here (mailto:reynoldschristin0@gmail.com) with questions or an interest in volunteering.

** Current Share Our Plate Recipient
————————————————————
We regularly donate a half of our undesignated plate collection to a local charity or non-profit organization. For the months of May & June we are supporting:

Black Mothers in Power

This organization seeks to dismantle systems of power to eradicate the racial health disparities that harm Black birthing people and babies throughout Delaware while building new systems of care and healing. Black Mothers in Power envisions building a state where Black birthing people are informed, in control of their own bodies, and cared for—both within the current oppressive system and in the liberatory systems we’ve created for ourselves.

A Recurring Event
————————————————————

Sundays: June 21; July 5 & 19
(every other week)
12:00 pm, Classroom 4

D&D is a role-playing game about storytelling in worlds of swords and sorcery. Each player creates an adventurer (also called a character) and teams up with other adventurers (played by friends). Working together, the group might explore a dark dungeon, a ruined city, a haunted castle, a lost temple deep in a jungle, or a lava-filled cavern beneath a mysterious mountain. The adventurers can solve puzzles, talk with other characters, battle fantastic monsters, and discover fabulous magic items and other treasure. No registration required – just drop in. All are welcome to join the group in classroom 4. Occurs every other week on Sundays.

Realm is our church management software program. We use it exclusively for accounting, pledge data, membership, registration events, and more. Use the button below to access your Realm profile to make sure we have your most recent contact information, and make pledge payments and contributions.
