What are the strange black objects Peg holds in each hand…?

A huge thank you to Land Steward Warriors Peg Duffy and Jamie Kegerise for clearing new pathways as the group formulates a proposal to better manage the area between the front parking lot and Polly Drummond Hill Road. All are welcome to explore these new paths!

Jamie used his trusty weed trimmer to get the job done, but what are the tools Peg used?

To learn what they are and how & why Peg chose them for this task, join the Land Stewards any Wednesday around 5:30 or so. All are welcome: the willing AND the curious!

** Adult RE Class
————————————————————

New this fall:
Building Our Own Theology

What is it you actually believe? What UU values do you actually live by?

This fall, Rev. Christe is offering Building Our Own Theology, an original eight-week course — no textbook to buy, no single “menu” of belief options, just real material to think, feel, and argue with. The course builds toward something concrete: a personal credo you’ll write, revise, and share with the group in the closing week.

The class begins Wednesday, September 16 and meets first and third Wednesday evenings through January, 6:30–8:30 pm, at church. Registration is required, click the button below. Space is limited to keep the circle small. Contact Rev. Christe (mailto:revchriste@gmail.com) with questions.

There are several water/drink bottles that need to be returned to their owners. Look for the tray in the cloakroom to claim yours.

** Sunday Worship Service Information
September 6, 2026
10:30 am
————————————————————

Gather with us this Labor Day Sunday as the congregational year gears up to once again take up the good work we are called to do by both the ancestors who came before us and the generations who will come after us. We will lift our hands, our hearts, and our voices in solidarity with workers, consider the work at hand to make the dream of a just, loving world real and contemplate our part to make it so – more open, more willing, more resolved.

Meet our worship leader, Rev. Amy Carol Webb. As a child in Oklahoma, Rev. Amy Carol Webb knew she’d preach and sing when she grew up. Grabbing her guitar and a Performing Arts degree, she headed out for celebrated careers in music, education, and marketing, with numerous independent albums. Her path finally led to Unitarian Universalist ministry, and seminary in 2005. Twenty years later she retired from full-time ministry as Minister Emerit of the River of Grass UU in Davie, FL, and is now settling into a new home in Newark, Delaware, with her wife, Brooke, eager for the next chapter of life’s adventure weaving ministry and music into transformation.

** NO CHURCH SERVICE:
Sunday, September 20
————————————————————
Join us on the University of Delaware Green Instead!
On September 20, we won’t be gathering within our own walls. The City of Newark’s Parks and Recreation Department, the University of Delaware, and the Christina School District are hosting the area’s premier community festival on The Green — Newark Community Day — featuring live music, local food, fine art and handmade crafts, a children’s area, and information booths from organizations across our town. And right in the middle of it all, we’ll be carrying our community out into the wider world.

Wear your Mill Creek shirt if you’ve got one, and come find us at our booth. We’ll be there from 11am to 4pm — connecting with neighbors, sharing who we are, and joining in the spirit of outreach and belonging. Weather permitting, we hope to begin our time together with some centering worship, grounding ourselves before the day unfolds.

Make a day of it — wander the Green, enjoy the music and food, and stay a while, hand out stickers, and share what Mill Creek has to offer.

** Current Share Our Plate Recipient
————————————————————
We regularly donate a half of our undesignated plate collection to a local charity or non-profit organization. For the months of September & October we are supporting:

SOAR – Survivors of Abuse in Recovery, Inc.

SOAR is a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing professional mental health services, education, and advocacy to victims of sexual trauma and their families regardless of their ability to pay. More than 2,000 adults, adolescents, children, and their families residing in Delaware and the surrounding counties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland utilize SOAR’s services annually. They rely on the generosity of the community for the support services offered so no one is ever turned away.

** Dungeons & Dragons
A Recurring Event
————————————————————
Sundays: September 13 & 27
(every other week)
12:00 pm, Conference Room
D&D is a role-playing game about storytelling in worlds of swords and sorcery. Each player creates an adventurer (also called a character) and teams up with other adventurers (played by friends). Working together, the group might explore a dark dungeon, a ruined city, a haunted castle, a lost temple deep in a jungle, or a lava-filled cavern beneath a mysterious mountain. The adventurers can solve puzzles, talk with other characters, battle fantastic monsters, and discover fabulous magic items and other treasure. No registration required – just drop in. All are welcome to join the group in the Conference Room. Occurs every other week on Sundays.
