This week, Rev. Greg begins our exploration of authenticity with the message, “human merely being.” We will also celebrate our annual Flower Communion, a ritual originating in 1923 with Unitarian minister Norbert Čapek in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Flower Communion is an annual celebration of beauty, diversity, and the gifts we bring to community. All are invited to bring a flower (or several) from your garden (or a florist). We will collect the flowers as you arrive at worship. Then, all are invited to take a flower home in gratitude for all those whose lives we touch, and whose lives touch ours.
Music
A Mill Creek Cello Ensemble will perform for us, including Heather Doty, Patti Ferich, Brian Hanson, Rachael VerNooy, and Bea Webb.
Adult Religious Education
Come early! Our Adult Religious Education group meets every Sunday at 9:15 am in the MacArtor Library. This week we are starting a four week unit led by Bob Broesler. This unit will be based on the book Christ and Culture by H. Richard Niebuhr. However, there is no required reading for ARE. Bob will guide us through this unit in easy digestible steps. The book examines Christianity from the perspective of various movements interacting with a larger world. This will allow us to examine five ways of “being church” and at the same time reveal five approaches to the doctrines of creation, humanity and salvation.
It’s going to be another great day at Mill Creek!
