July 31: Inspired By Wonder

Join us for worship this Sunday, July 31 at 10:30 am

This week, Mill Creek member Maggie McLaughlin rounds out our month of Wonder with her message, “Inspired By Wonder.” Many UUs, when asked to describe a spiritual experience, describe encounters they’ve had in the world of nature. We turn to nature to awaken our sense of awe. In the natural world we are invited to go deeper, to contemplate meaning, and to seek renewal. Our UU faith values wonder, both the noun and the verb. Many of us come to UUSMC for the same reasons we journey into the natural world. What do you experience when you come to church? Are you inspired by wonder?

Mill Creek members Andy Levin and Kristen Tosh-Morelli will be performing some WONDERful music for us!

Come early! The Adult Religious Education group meets each Sunday morning at 9:15 am in the MacArtor Library. Join us! This Sunday we will be viewing a video by Thomas Frank whose new book is “Listen, Liberal: Or, What Ever Happened to the Party of the People?” With his trademark sardonic wit and lacerating logic, Frank lays bare the essence of the Democratic Party’s philosophy and how it has changed over the years. A form of corporate and cultural elitism has largely eclipsed the party’s old working-class commitment, he finds. For certain favored groups, this has meant prosperity. But for the nation as a whole, it is a one-way ticket into the abyss of inequality. In this critical election year, Frank recalls the Democrats to their historic goals-the only way to reverse the ever-deepening rift between the rich and the poor in America.

It’s going to be another great day at Mill Creek!
