Our Adult Religious Education group meets every Sunday at 9:15 am in the MacArtor Library.

This week, as we struggle  our way to the end of a deeply troublesome election season, we would do well to hearken back to the teachings of transcendentalist Theodore Parker and his powerful impact upon the seminal thinking of Abraham Lincoln.

This discussion, led by Bob Broesler, will explore Parker’s concept of the transcendental ideal and how he powerfully influenced Lincoln’s Gettysburg address. We will explore over a three week period the implications of these theories for today’s generation and how we can find a vibrant message of “transcendence” for our generation, including today’s so-called Millennials.
