The rescheduled Book Group meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at 7:30 in the church library. Sue Jackson will lead a discussion of “Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity” by Katherine Boo.
“From Pulitzer Prize-winner Katherine Boo, a landmark work of narrative nonfiction that tells the dramatic and sometimes heartbreaking story of families striving toward a better life in one of the twenty-first century’s great, unequal cities.” (goodreads.com)
At the end of the meeting, Seetha Coleman-Kammula will present several book choices for the November meeting.
Looking ahead, on September 1 we will discuss “The Sense of an Ending” by Julian Barnes. (This intense novel follows a middle-aged man as he contends with a past he never thought much about — until his closest childhood friends return with a vengeance. When he is presented with a mysterious legacy, he is forced to revise his estimation of his own nature and place in the world.”)
All are welcome to attend. If interested, please contact Book Group Coordinator Amy White at firstname.lastname@example.org.
