Hike on the New Jack Markell Trail

Event details

  • Sunday | June 9, 2019
  • 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Please join us after church on Sunday, June 9 when we will be touring the DuPont Environmental Education Center at the Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge and hiking the Jack Markell Trail.

This is a moderate hike on mostly flat terrain, and should be suitable for all ages. Kids are welcome to bring their bikes, and the trail is smooth gravel suitable for strollers. We will leave from church after the coffee time and car pool to the center (1400 Delmarva Lane, Wilmington, DE  19801, just south of the Blue Rocks baseball stadium).

This is an unusual wildlife refuge in the heart of an urban area that offers important educational and nature experiences to folks who might not otherwise have this kind of opportunity. Please bring good walking/hiking shoes or boots, bug spray, sun block, snacks and water. We will hike in light rain, but will cancel if there is heavy rain or dangerous weather forecasted. We should return to the church by around 4:00 PM.  Contact Jamie Kegerise with questions.
