Join us Tuesday, January 12 at 6:30 pm to talk about where we’ll put our energy, hope, compassion, and love in service to healing this country’s legacy of racism.
Last July, we held a focus group on racism. In September, we had a special worship service on race in America. In October, we held a workshop on understanding structural racism. All of this was designed to lead us into the Coalition to Dismantle the New Jim Crow’s public forum: Hope, Opportunity, and Race, held November 14 in Wilmington.
We have been challenged.
We have struggled.
We have been inspired.
And the work continues.
You are invited join us Tuesday, January 12 at 6:30 pm, for a follow-up conversation about What’s Next? Where will be put our energies, our hopes, our compassion, our love in service to healing this country’s legacy of racism? What will be our work to do?
Even if you have not been able to participate in these conversations thus far, you are welcome to join Rev. Greg, Linda Lucero, Chuck Singleton and our special guest — Dr. Yasser Payne, University of Delaware Associate Professor of Black American Studies. For those of you who are familiar with Dr. Payne’s work, you know this is an extraordinary opportunity for Mill Creek. For those who have not yet heard Dr. Payne, you are in for a wonderful, challenging, and inspired evening. (Read more in The Payne Prescription, UD Messenger.)
We strongly encourage all members and friends of UU Society of Mill Creek to attend this conversation. In the matter of race in America, in the matter of our journeys toward wholeness, in the matter of growing together in depth of spirit and love, we at UUSMC have an important role to play.
Please do all you can to attend and invite others to do so as well.
