** 2023 Service Auction a Big Success
————————————————————
We had a great turnout with almost 100 people in attendance, the online & live auction offerings were plentiful and diverse, the food from Bucky’s BBQ was delicious, the decorations were festive, the fellowship was lively, and everyone went home happy! We raised over $20,000 to support the ministries of Mill Creek.

It all begins with donations.
We could not have a successful Service Auction without items to bid on, and we are especially grateful to all of our generous and creative donors! Thank you to everyone who donated an item or service for the live and/or online auctions.
Pictured left to right: Kris Tosh-Morelli, Karen Rege, Paco Samb, and Vicky Tosh-Morelli.
We had a team of dedicated and talented organizers.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Janice Buckwalter, Melissa Bryson, and David Bonner for their countless hours dedicated to the success of this event.
Pictured left to right: Roy Draper and Adam Kegley.
Everyone played a role.
We want to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to anyone and everyone who participated in the Service Auction in any capacity. We would not have realized such great success without:
* Anyone who made a purchase online or at the live auction
* All who helped set up or break down on auction day
* Folks who assisted with the online auction
* Everyone who helped sell tickets & distribute paddles
* Those who recruited and provided childcare
* Friends who shopped for and/or helped serve the food & drinks
* Each person who assisted with data management & item catalog preparation
* People who designed and produced posters & tickets
* Anybody who helped advertise the event on social media or word-of-mouth
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
** Flower Communion this Sunday
————————————————————
We are happy to announce the return of our traditional Flower Communion this Sunday, May 14 – Mother’s Day. This year marks the 100-year anniversary of this UU ritual, originally created in 1923 by Unitarian minister Norbert Čapek of Prague, Czechoslovakia.
* Everyone is invited to bring a flower from their garden or flower shop.
* Place your flower in one of the vases set up in the gathering space before the service begins.
* During the service, the congregation and Rev. Greg will bless the flowers.
* The flowers will then redistributed, with each person bringing home a different flower than the one they brought.
** May’s Potluck Lunch
————————————————————
Plan to join us on Sunday, May 21st for our monthly potluck lunch. Note that this has been rescheduled from our usual second Sunday.
** Park Benches on Church Grounds Coming Soon
————————————————————
We are excited to announce a project which will allow for a more meditative experience in our Memorial Grove and welcoming opportunities within our meadows.
Using designated funds from memorial gifts, park benches are being procured from Eco Plastic Products of Delaware (ECOP). ECOP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that recycles eligible plastic and transforms it into consumer products. ECOP uses recyclable plastic marked #2, #4 and #5 ONLY in their process.
In exchange for our donation of recyclables marked accordingly, we will receive a discount on our order. Look for the recycling triangle stamped with #2, #4 or #5 on the bottom of food containers, laundry & cleaning products, bags, etc., and bring in your clean, dry, empty items (no liquids or food residue). We will have a bin set up for this collection.

** Wednesdays are for Meadow Maintenance
————————————————————
Join the crew on any Wednesday at 5:30 pm to help maintain the health and vibrancy of our meadows and trees (the time will be pushed back as the season progresses). Bring work gloves, clippers & general garden tools, and a kneeling pad if you have one. Or…help us water our trees. Many of our young trees are at risk of dying without regular watering.

Current Share Our Plate Recipient
————————————————————
We regularly donate a portion of our undesignated plate collection to a local charity or non-profit organization. For the months of May and June we are supporting:
Urban Bike Project
Located on North Walnut Street in Wilmington, Urban Bike Project (UBP) supports Wilmington communities by providing access to bicycling as a healthy, affordable, and practical means of transportation and recreation. Bicycles provide reliable, healthy, and emissions-free transportation. UBP’s work is guided by three core principles: open access for all Wilmington residents, opportunities for residents to build self-sufficiency, and community-driven programming that is responsive to resident needs. UBP offers a wide array of services: open-shop hours for repairs; retail-only hours; youth-only shop hours; a free bike program; several youth programs including build-a-bike summer camp; instruction classes; and a variety of other services, events, and networking opportunities.
